Mark Blackman

Mark S. Blackman is an experienced bankruptcy, business and real estate litigator. He represents clients in all aspects of creditors' rights matters including, but not limited to, bankruptcy proceedings, judicial foreclosures, real property foreclosures, title and escrow company disputes, interpleaders and all aspects of bankruptcy, manufactured housing and mobile home transactions and litigation.

Memberships/Accomplishments:

  • Current member, Board of Directors, for the Valley Cultural Center
  • Past president, San Fernando Valley Bar Association. He has served as the chair for the Bar Association's annual Law Day programs, which provides free legal services to members of the community. He has also served as the chair of the Bar Association's Blanket the Homeless program for over ten years.
  • Member, Board of Directors, Valley Community Legal Foundation (provides grants to organizations which provide legal services to families and the poor)
  • Past board member, Los Angeles Chapter of the California Trustees Association
  • Past member, Loyola Law School Board of Governors.
  • Served as a member of the Formation Committee for the Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Council, part of the City of Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

    Mr. Blackman has conducted programs on bankruptcy law and mobile home foreclosures for the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Trustees Association and the United Trustee's Association. Before joining Alpert, Barr & Grant over 18 years ago, Mr. Blackman was an attorney with another San Fernando Valley law firm where he handled all aspects of business and real estate litigation including case intake and review, and preparation of complaints, answers, demurrers, motions for summary judgments/summary adjudication and other discovery.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Los Angeles
  • Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law, 1985.
  • Licensed to practice in California and before the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California
