About Gary L. Barr

Though, as a native of Los Angeles, he loves the City, Gary admits that travel is one of his great passions. Gary is also a Star Trek fanatic and loves Rock & Roll music, particularly, The Beatles.


Gary and his wife of over 35-years reside in Woodland Hills. Together they have raised two grown daughters and are the proud grandparents of Asher, Calla and Tenley.


Gary enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, golfing with his friends, and hiking with his wife.

Gary L. Barr is a shareholder with Alpert, Barr & Grant with over 35-years of legal experience focusing on outside general counsel matters and all forms of business, real estate and commercial law and litigation.  As outside general counsel for individuals and small and mid-size businesses, Gary works to thoroughly understand the culture of each client’s business in order to develop strategic plans based on the business needs and nuances of each client. He crafts and implements action plans tailored to the needs of each client.

 

Gary’s clients range from individuals to small businesses to national and multi-national corporations, including banks and financing companies, real estate developers, real estate brokers, property management businesses, manufacturers, trust companies, law firms, and many others throughout California and the world.  With his extensive experience, he has the expertise to navigate the toughest business challenges and to guide his clients in negotiating the sometimes unpredictable twists and turns of transactional matters. Representative Experience

  • Represented a client in the sale of a large commercial building in Northern California.
  • Negotiated and drafted a 20 year ground lease on behalf of a property owner.
  • Represented a client in the purchases of two large apartment complexes.
  • Successfully negotiated the sale of a business to investors.
  • Prosecuted a federal case for a loan servicing company for bad faith waste, which resulted in a judgment against the defendants for over $2.9 million
  • Successfully defended a client who was sued on a Promissory Note for in excess of $1 million. The Court ruled that the client did not owe the money to the plaintiff and awarded our client attorneys’ fees.
  • Successfully prosecuted a case to establish an easement for ingress and egress to the clients’ property. The case settled immediately before trial with the clients obtaining the easement they sought and needed for their property.
  • Defended a bank in a claim for over $3 million for breaching a contract to enter into a loan program.
